Motor Control and Learning

Mission Statement

  • To investigate changes in motor control and learning across the lifespan

  • To explore through research and scholarship changes in motor development that occur as a function of changing constraints

  • To communicate theoretical constructs and application of current knowledge about motor control, learning and development through teaching, publications and community interactions

The intention in the area of Motor Control and Learning is to investigate how the coordination and control of movement comes about. Researchers and thinkers in this area draw on information and tools from many levels of observation, behavioural, biomechanical, neuropsychological and neurophysiological, to further our understanding of how movement is organised into functional units and the factors that facilitate this organisation. Our current research focuses on motor skill development during childhood, adolescence, and adulthood.
